Geomembranes are waterproofing polymeric sheets and constitute the most significant group within the geosynthetics. They are used in a wide and growing range of applications (landfills, lagoons, channels, ornamental ponds, …), so Geomembranes are present in Environmental applications, Geotechnical, Transportation, Hydraulic and other engineering works.

  • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE): High Resistance, bicolour Coextruded geomembrane, ideal for applications where a coloured geomembrane is required. Also for avoiding landscape impact.
  • Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE): Flexible resistant bicoloured coextruded geomembrane, ideal for applications where a coloured geomembrane is required. Also for avoiding landscape impact.
  • Very Low Density Flexible Polyethylene (VLDPE): Excellent Flexibility and Weldability. Especially suited to surfaces where adaptability of material is needed. Suitable for potable water.


This is one of the largest group of geosynthetics. We must regard that geotextiles are porous and allow the passage of liquid through his plan, changing the permeability of each other. In general they comply with any of the following functions: separation, reinforcement, filtration and / or drainage.

There are two main types of geotextiles: Wovens and Nonwovens.

Geogrids for Reinforcement – GGR

Polymeric structure consisting of bundles of fibers or strips arranged in an open regular structure, protected or not against corrosion. Commonly used for applications of reinforcement and consolidation of soils, Geogrids are manufactured by extrusion, bonding, weaving or welding processes, which results in different types of interlacing.

There are also Organic and Biodegradable Geogrids for Reinforcement, used for Erosion Control applications and protection of margins.

Drainage Geocomposites – GCD

Geo-composite drains are manufactured by bonding together textiles, membranes and nets in different combinations to create easier-to-install replacements for conventional granular layers. The textile provides the filter function so this allows liquids and gases to pass into the net core but prevents soil particles from washing into and clogging the core. The net collects the liquids and gases which can then be conveyed to collection points. Membranes are used to provide the barrier function and prevent the passage of liquids and the majority of gases.

Geocells – GCE

Polyethylene Geocells have high tensile and peel strength. They are used in contact with soil/rock and/or any other geotechnical material in civil engineering applications. Also Geocells made of strips of geotextiles are offered.

GCL Geosynthetic Clay Liners – GCL

Waterproof geocomposite consisting of sodium bentonite between two geotextiles: a base woven geotextile and a top non-woven geotextile. Components are firmly bonded by needlepunching.
